I studied computer science at Hamburg University, specializing in distributed systems, and got my master's degree in 2001, with a thesis about Jini on non-Java platforms.

Since 1995, I worked as a freelancer for major German multimedia agencies and co-created the technology behind a number of commercial and corporate websites.

In 2001, three fellow developers formed epublica with me.
